Current Students

My name is Mia DeCamillis and I’m a sophomore majoring in History. I just started my second year as a student worker in the department and I have absolutely loved getting to know the professors and other history students. I have also been a member of the History Club since its revival in my freshman year! As of now I think that I will be focusing on American history, but I am very much enjoying taking classes in a wide variety of areas. Overall, I love how history gives us a deeper understanding of current issues and phenomena, and how it can give us more compassion for different communities based on their complex pasts.

My name is Karen, and I am from Mashpee, MA. I am a sophomore here at Emmanuel, double majoring in Secondary Education and History. My history period of choice is US History, specifically Revolution and Constitution era and 1900s. What I love most about history is how it connects to what is happening today. By learning history, I can understand why people think and act the way they do, and how that can influence the people and countries around them. Being here at Emmanuel has allowed me to dive deeper into learning about specific topics and has deepened my overall knowledge. I hope that by continuing to deepen my knowledge and explore more of history, I will be a knowledgeable and informed teacher for my future students.

My name is Jillian Feyler, and I’m majoring in History and Spanish with a minor in Writing. I chose to study History because I’ve always had an interest in learning about the past. I also enjoy being able to dive into historical events and find how it connects to modern day society. I am also a student worker for the History department.

My name is Emily, and I am from Nottingham, NH. I am a senior double major in history and educational studies. I tend to lean more towards European history, but also enjoy studying some American History, particularly mid to late 19th century and onward. My favorite aspect of history is the research, I absolutely love collecting facts and organizing into a concrete presentation or paper to share what I have learned. And as I work on finishing my last year at Emmanuel I am excited to look for ways to continue to study in history in the future.

GRADUATED 2023
My name is Anna Hajnasr and I am a junior majoring in Secondary Education and History! The reason I love history is learning about our past and how certain events have created ideas today. Many of my teachers in my past have influenced my decision in wanting to teach history. I look at history as if it is a story, and sometimes it is a story that repeats itself, which I find really interesting.
