Born in Hawai’i, Dr. Fortin has lived in a number of different states, but calls seacoast New Hampshire home. Having spent much of his childhood in a house built in 1777, it seems only natural that Dr. Fortin teaches and researches topics about colonial America and the wider Atlantic world with an emphasis on cultural, social, and maritime history. Earning his BA from Boston University and MA/PhD from The University of New Hampshire, Dr. Fortin taught at SUNY – Oneonta (NY) for five years before coming to Emmanuel College in 2012. When not in the classroom, his office, or staring at his laptop, Dr. Fortin can be found with his two sons in random hockey rinks and golf courses throughout New England.
